This application runs sandboxed on your own device.
It cannot read your sign-in details, nor send in the background what you type into it: it cannot send anything over the network (at most it loads a fixed module from knpliv.com that runs on your device). Whatever it keeps, it keeps on your device and nowhere else, and you can always make it forget. Like everything published here, it was read over before going online.
About this tool
A complete writing studio that fits in one page.
Your library. Several books in a single project file, with their cover, genre, language, word count and progress. A three-step wizard to create a book, twelve starting templates by genre, a word target and a due date from which the tool works out your daily pace.
Writing. Eight paragraph styles — body, subheading, quotation, dialogue, verse, epigraph, letter, scene break —, footnotes that renumber themselves, parts, and a French typographic pass applied only when you ask for it. As in a word processor: find and replace, comments, track changes, highlighter, and indents set on the ruler, paragraph by paragraph.
Organising. Chapters move by drag and drop, duplicate, split where the cursor sits, and merge. A book outline shows parts, chapters and subheadings.
Preparing. A workshop for characters and their relationships, places, the timeline and working notes. These cards stay inside your project and go into no exported file.
Reviewing. The tool flags very long sentences, close repetitions, overused words, chapters far from the median, doubled words and character names that look almost alike. It counts; it corrects nothing and decides nothing.
KDP book types. Beyond novels and non-fiction: large print, low-content notebooks (lined, dot grid, graph, sketch, journals, planners, log books…), activity books (mazes, word search, sudoku, crosswords, cryptograms…), coloring books, children’s picture books, photo books, comics and manga. Each interior is built page by page, at KDP’s trim size and margins, then exported as PDF.
Amazon KDP. A review of the measurable requirements, the trim sizes and the minimum-margin table taken from Amazon’s own help pages, and a page-by-page preview with the gutter alternating sides. Amazon remains the only judge: the tool never says a book complies.
Exporting and importing. EPUB, Word, PDF, HTML, Markdown, plain text. The PDF embeds its fonts (Crimson Text, under the free SIL OFL licence): it can serve as a print interior. You can also reopen a DOCX or an EPUB: chapters, styles, bold, italics and footnotes are carried over.
Privacy. Everything is worked out on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere. The project saves itself on this device, and the tool offers to pick it up when you come back; “Save” writes a copy to a file, to keep elsewhere.
